Great, weird album. Upholstered with glorious defects (editing bumps, incomplete soneos, nonsensical lyrics, disjointed/suffocated trumpet/trombone attacks and solos, you name it). And, however, it’s a jewel. Markolino never disappoints!

Amazing picks, Judy! I especially enjoyed listening and reading about Mirtha y Raul, and Havana's funky 70s scene, which I had absolutely no idea about. Long live Mr. Bongo!!

Thanks for reading Marco!

Mr. Bongo has done various releases from the Cuban vault, particularly Juan Pablo Torres, key arranger from that time and also an amazing person who I somehow convinced to give me a few bongo lessons when we both moved lived in Miami. (RIP JP)

I think you will love the upcoming compilation Cuban Beat and Fantasia on Luchando Music (Disclosure,I wrote the liner notes.) Here is a podcast I co-produced about that last month with interviews from Cuban artists about that era. I hope you'll check it out. https://cubaonrecord.substack.com/p/podcast-cuban-beat-and-fantasia-the
