José Fajardo competed with Tito Puente on stage and on record in 1958. Fajardo’s song “El Aguardiente” was gaining ground with dancers in New York; Puente’s own smash Dancemania would be released at the end of the year. On the night before Thanksgiving, Fajardo and his All Stars -featuring 18 musicians on stage- performed at New York’s Palladium ballroom
